Facts show Sente is true independent

I have been reading a number of factually incorrect letters to the editor about Carol Sente.

She was not appointed to her position by Mike Madigan, but was appointed by the Lake County Democratic organization, just like JoAnn Osmond was appointed by the Lake County Republicans awhile back. If Mike Madigan had known Carol, I don't think he would have approved.

She has been one of the most vocal critics of his tax increase plans, and of his tenure in the speaker's chair.

Next with regard to Carol's architectural firm getting business from various government agencies, their specialty is public sector buildings. Her original firm had been operating in that sector for a number of generations dating back to when Carol was a child, before she got into public service. She merged her firm with the current firm, which operates, to no surprise, in the same arena.

The reason they get their fair share of contracts is because they are the qualified low bidder, doing the taxpayers' work at fair prices.

Carol is no tax-and-spend liberal. In fact some of her positions are too conservative for an old Democrat like me, but she's extremely thoughtful and works tirelessly for her constituents, which one should want in a representative.

Because she is so independent, she is one of the few that can cross the aisle to achieve true bipartisan support for legislation. If you don't want a representative that can work within the majority to get things done, and can work with the minority on what's right for everyone, vote for her opponent. But be warned that what you will get is not an independent. You will get someone who owes allegiance to a radio talk show host who has paid for the most despicable of her campaign mailers.
