N. Aurora man charged with robbery, theft

A North Aurora man faces multiple charges related to an aggravated burglary at a North Aurora grocery store and theft from a North Aurora home, police said.

Jacob A. Harnesk, 26, formerly of the 200 block of East Arrowhead, was arrested Monday on a theft warrant and charged with aggravated robbery and robbery, as well as two counts of theft, police said in a news release.

For those charges, police say Harnesk told the clerk of Sunny Food and Liquor, 5 S. Lincolnway, that he had a gun and took money from the store at about 6 p.m. Oct. 4.

The theft warrant came from an investigation into the theft of several items from his parents' house, where he used to live, on Aug. 21 and Oct. 2. Stolen items, which were later pawned, included a shop vac, jewelry, mixer, slow cooker and Sony PlayStation.

Harnesk will need to post $7,500 bond to be released from the Kane County jail.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to call North Aurora Police detectives at (630) 897-8705, ext. 610, or leave an anonymous tip at (630) 897-8705.
