Naperville crash sends two to hospital

Two people were taken to a Naperville hospital after a crash Monday afternoon on Naper Boulevard just south of Chicago Avenue/Maple Avenue in an unincorporated area near Naperville, authorities said.

A Ford Focus and a Jeep collided about 4:30 p.m. Monday during a period of rain, Naperville Fire Department Capt. Tom Oker said.

The driver of the Focus had to be extricated from the vehicle because of the angle of the crash, and the person was taken to a hospital using advanced life support techniques as a precaution, Oker said.

One other person also was taken to a hospital, but Oker said neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries. One other person who was a passenger in one of the vehicles declined to be taken to a hospital for medical attention. The identities of those involved in the crash were not immediately released.

First responders closed the southbound lanes of Naper Boulevard for a short time while responding to the crash.

Oker said this was one of several crashes in Naperville as rains fell Monday into Tuesday, but none of the others were serious.
