Pollwatcher credentials available in Lake County

The Lake County Clerk's Office announced that pollwatcher credentials are available to qualified political organizations for the Nov. 4 General Election. All pollwatchers are required to have credentials issued by the Lake County clerk or the Illinois State Board of Elections in order to observe at voting sites. Pollwatchers may represent candidates, established political parties, qualified civic organizations and organized proponents or opponents of ballot propositions. The clerk's office will offer training on the rights and limitations of pollwatchers on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. in conference room B on the 10th Floor of the Lake County Administrative Complex, 18 N. County St., Waukegan. Requests for pollwatcher credentials from the clerk's office and registration for the class can be sent via email to elections@lakecountyil.gov or by calling (847) 377-2314. Candidates can visit LakeCandidatePower.info and download the pollwatcher guide, which explains the qualifications and responsibilities of a pollwatcher.
