Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, Oct. 9

Hampshire 4, Grayslake Central 3 (Wednesday's late result): The Whip-Purs (6-13-2, 3-3) managed to end the regular season as a spoiler in Fox Valley Conference Fox Division action, needing penalty kicks to oust the Rams after a scoreless 80 minutes and OT. Peter Panagakos, Michael Boutin, Tyler Fairwood and Jose Hernandez managed to score in the shootout while stingy keeper Andy Pederson stopped 2 PKs to go with his 11 saves that bridged regulation and overtime to seal matters.

CL South 3, Huntley 1: The Gators (13-5-1, 5-0) are the outright FVC Valley champions with their win over the Red Raiders (5-11-4, 0-4). Charlie Ruff led the way with a 1 goal and 1 assist while Stefan Harris and Jake Canfield rounded out the scoring. Orlando Tapia and Kennan Grissom also notched assists while Dalton Kause made 5 saves in goal. Huntley's Manuel Menjivar tallied a second half goal from Michael Zembrzuski in the 75th minute and both Michael Parks (3 saves) and Andrew Fulcer (4 saves) split time in net.

Burlington Central 5, Marengo 2: In Big Northern East action, Jack Schramme's 2 goals and 1 assist were too much for the Indians. Stefan Jochum and Cade Dougherty were also effective with 1 goal and 1 assist each while Cole Tecza added 1 goal. Elijah Abejide and Christ Leberecht each put across 1 assist and Central (12-5-2, 10-2) goalkeeper Ryan Fitzgerald garnered 6 saves in goal.

St. Edward 6, Elgin Academy 0: AJ Franklin tossed in a hat trick in the Green Wave's dominating win at Greg True Field. Alex Semler added 2 goals and 1 assist while Joe French put across 1 goal and 3 assists. Will Gaston got in on the assist department and keeper Matt Hesch made 4 saves. Hilltoppers goalie Spencer Schael made 14 saves to finish Elgin Academy's regular season at 6-9.

McHenry 4, Jacobs 3 (PK): Keepers Ethan Pickering and Eduardo Guimaray each collected 3 saves for Jacobs (4-13-1, 1-3) in a game that saw no goals scored in regulation or overtime, but the Warriors found their way edging the Golden Eagles by 1 in FVC Valley action.
