Emanuel: Problems won't end fire festival
Mayor Rahm Emanuel says the technical problems that marked the inaugural festival commemorating the Great Chicago Fire won't stop the city from planning another one.
Emanuel said Wednesday the fact that thousands of people came out for the festival Saturday despite cold and rainy weather is a signal it "touched a spirit in Chicago" and should continue.
The biggest problem with the festival was that organizers had difficulty setting ablaze the model houses floating on the Chicago River.
Emanuel referred to the popular legend that Mrs. O'Leary's cow started the blaze when he joked that organizers could have used the cow's help lighting the displays.
