Chicago man charged in subway train shooting
Authorities have charged a man who they say used an assault rifle to fire at a Chicago subway train as it pulled into a business district station.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports 25-year-old Lorenzo Jones was charged Thursday with four felony counts including aggravated unlawful use of a weapon. No one was injured in the Thursday morning shooting on the Blue Line's LaSalle Street platform.
Chicago Police Superintendent Gerry McCarthy said before charges were filed that the suspect was targeting the train, not passengers, when he fired five shots.
McCarthy described the man's behavior as “kind of bizarre” and said he didn't know his motive.
McCarthy says he had a valid firearms owner identification card but the weapon he used was stolen from Indiana.
It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
