SHS Graduate Bryant Fritz named Outstanding Teacher of Science

Champaign, Illinois. Schaumburg High School and EIU graduate and Next Generation School's middle school science teacher, Bryant Fritz, has received the Illinois Science Teacher Association and Exxonmobil Outstanding Teacher of Science Award. Bryant was nominated for this award by a member of ISTA and is one of only eleven Illinois teachers to receive the honor. The award recognizes teachers who exemplify "extraordinary achievements in the teaching of science."

Bryant Fritz, science and engineering teacher and middle school coordinator, helped introduce the school's first-annual, all-school Science and Engineering Fair and managed the integration of the innovative Project Lead the Way curriculum, the nation's leader in Stem programs. In addition to his successes at Next Generation School, Bryant was recently chosen by the Illinois Department of Education to serve as the Engineering Specialist for the revision and writing of current and new science curriculum standards and will continue to work on this project throughout the 2014-2015 school year. Bryant is in his fifth year of teaching at NGS.
