Electing Rauner won't bring change

Having read the Daily Herald for about 50 years, I was disappointed that you fell for Bruce Rauner's bait in his political ads, such as "Freezing real estate taxes."

You know the governor does not control those taxes, which are levied by townships and counties. His solving the Illinois financial problems without a defined plan is ludicrous.

I agree there must be change, but would have had more respect for the Herald if they endorsed no one.

Illinois' problems predate Gov. Quinn and Speaker Michael J. Madigan is more to blame. If Madigan is re-elected he will block any attempts by Rauner to make changes, and the state will end up with no change.
