Wheeling Park District accepting nomination petitions

Wheeling Park District will be accepting Petitions of Nomination from Dec. 15 through Dec. 22, to serve as park commissioner of the Wheeling Park District.

Three board seats, which each serve four-year terms, are available. Any individual who is a registered voter and is a resident of the Wheeling Park District is eligible to hold the office of commissioner of the Wheeling Park District. The office of commissioner is an elected position with no financial remuneration. Commissioners will be selected by vote of the community in the Consolidated Election to be held on Tuesday, April 7. The board of park commissioners meets formally at 7 p.m. on the first and third Tuesdays of each month for regular board meetings and for special meetings when necessary. A minimum time requirement of 10 hours per month is reasonable to expect in a typical month, but may vary as needed.

Individuals interested in running for the office of park commissioner should contact Jan Buchs, secretary to the board of park commissioners, by calling (847) 465-3333, or stop by the Guest Service Desk at the Wheeling Park District Community Recreation Center, 333 W. Dundee Road, Wheeling, during regular business hours to obtain election materials.
