District 54 program helps parents learn how kids communicate

Schaumburg Township Elementary District 54's Schaumburg Parent University and the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs are hosting a presentation Tuesday to help parents learn how children are using their phones and computers to communicate through text messages and social media.

District 54's school resource officers from the Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates police departments will teach parents how to keep their children safe, how to prevent online bullying and how to encourage good cyber citizenship.

The presentation takes place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Keller Junior High School, 820 Bode Road in Schaumburg.

Childcare is available as this presentation is for adults only. The parent presentation will follow a brief fall general meeting for the Schaumburg Township Council of PTAs.
