Long Grove to celebrate its German roots with Oktoberfest

Experience German cuisine, beer, live music and fun for the whole family Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 4-5 and 11-12, when Long Grove holds an Oktoberfest to celebrate its German heritage.

Also, the inaugural European Autoschau, a concours-style event showcasing European automobiles from prewar through the modern decades, will be held Saturday, Oct. 4.

The Village Tavern will have activities under its Oktoberfest Beer Tent and inside starting at 11:30 a.m. daily, with festivities including authentic German fare, beer flights and German wine, beer trucks featuring eight different taps and 16 varieties of seasonal and Oktoberfest beers, German bands from 1 to 4 p.m., free pumpkin decorating and kids activities, free hayrides through town from 1 to 5 p.m., and an antique tractor show on Oct. 11-12. Admission is free.
