District 62 students can enter Winter Card contest

The School District 62 Community Relations Department invites all kindergarten through eighth grade District 62 students to participate in a contest to design a winter greeting card for School District 62. The first-place winner's design appears on a card that is sent during the holiday season and displayed on the district's website and at the Des Plaines Public Library.

The first-place winner will be honored at the Monday, Nov. 17, board of education meeting, where he/she will receive a deluxe first-place certificate. Second- and third-place winners will also be honored by the board of education. All participants will receive participation certificates. Winners will be notified by Monday, Nov. 3.

Entries must be no larger than 5 by 7 inches. Artwork should reflect a winter theme, which could include cardinals, birds, trees, nature, mittens, snowflakes, snowmen, etc. The design should be in color, and must be able to be reproduced. The design should be original.

Entries should be placed in an envelope labeled "School District 62 Winter Greeting Card Design" and turned into the school office by Wednesday, Oct. 15. School District 62 is not responsible for damage, so students should keep copies of their work.

Students should include their name and school on the back of their submission. A completed parent/guardian release form must also accompany each entry. Information may be found by visiting the Winter Card Program/Studente/Resources link on the district website, www.d62.org.
