Five events to keep you entertained this weekend

Local festivals are winding down, but this weekend you can choose from a debut event in Cary or a long-standing autumn tradition in Long Grove. And if you'd rather relax than roam, you can take in a comic, enjoy Broadway tunes or catch a former "American Idol" winner on the suburban stage.

<h3 class="leadin"><span class="leadin character for digests">Apple a day: </span>Celebrate the sweet taste of autumn with all things apple - pies, cider doughnuts and a lot more - at the annual Long Grove Apple Fest, Robert Parker Coffin and Old McHenry roads, downtown Long Grove. <h3 class="leadin">New fest:<span class="leadin character for digests"> </span>The Cary Grove Area Chamber of Commerce debuts the inaugural Cary Main Street Fest with a weekend-long lineup of bands, craft beer tastings and more along Main Street in downtown Cary. $5 donation. <h3 class="leadin"><span class="leadin character for digests">Jo-kester: </span>Comedian Jo Koy, a frequent panelist on "Chelsea Lately," headlines the Chicago Improv at 5 Woodfield Road, Woodfield Mall, Schaumburg. Koy, who has two Comedy Central specials and several "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" appearances to his credit, is also a regular at Improv clubs around the country. $33-$66, plus a two item food or beverage minimum. <h3 class="leadin"><span class="leadin character for digests">'Idol' on tour: </span>Scotty McCreery, the season 10 winner of "American Idol," performs country hits like "See You Tonight," "The Trouble with Girls" and more on Saturday at North Central College's Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. <h3 class="leadin">Giving his regards: "Neil Berg's 101 Years of Broadway" features a wide range of musical theater favorites performed in concert this weekend at two suburban locations: Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg. $40-$42.
