Boys soccer: Fox Valley roundup Thursday, Sept. 25

Cary-Grove 3, Von Steuben 0: The Trojans (10-1) made it 10-straight on the season behind goals from Luis Lemus, Mike Arenberg and Max Green in nonconference action. Esteban Angeles had 2 assists while Israel Lopez registered 1 and Ethan Csoka (1 save) and Eric Fisher split time in goal for the team's sixth shutout of the season.

Elgin 6, Plainfield Central 0: Zach Erickson put forth a hat trick and 1 assist as the Maroons (5-7) cruised to a St. Charles East Invite win. Richard Sosa scored once and served up 1 assist while Ceasar Gomez and Juan Flores also scored goals. Herman Arce had the other assist and Edgar Rodriguez made 2 saves in goal.

Jacobs 3, Huntley 2: Konrad Wasilewski had a hat trick with Colin Walsh and Nick Voss providing assists as the Golden Eagles (4-11-1, 1-1) prevailed in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division. Eduardo Guimaray made 7 saves in goal for Jacobs. Allan Barrier and Max Walsh scored goals for Huntley. Andrew Fuller (3 saves) and Michael Parks (4 saves) split time in net for the Red Raiders (2-8-4, 0-1).

St. Edward 6, Aurora Central Catholic 1: Joe French delivered mightily with 4 goals and 1 assist in the Green Wave's Metro Suburban West win. AJ Franklin added 1 goal and 1 assist while Alex Semler had 3 assists for the Wave (6-7, 1-2). Kevin Bardan netted 1 goal and Will Gaston turned in 1 assist. Keeper Matt Hesch made 5 saves.

Harvest Christian 5, Elgin Academy 2: The Lions (7-1-1) came back with 3 goals in the second half to edge the Hilltoppers in nonconference play. Rapheal DeSouza scored twice for Harvest while Austin White, Sergio Velazquez and Antonio Nevarez (1 assist) scored second half goals. Alessandro D'Argento had 1 assist and Noah Fox made 11 saves in net. Elgin Academy's Armin Ward and Julian Romano scored goals while both assists were from Karl Rauschenberger. Spencer Schael made 22 saves in goal for the Hilltoppers (5-4).

Larkin 1, Maine East 1: Larkin's Hector Mendoza connected on a pass from Roberto Escobar, but that's all the Royals (3-7-4) could put across in a nonconference tie. Keeper Leo Perez made 7 saves.

Waubonsie Valley 3, Bartlett 1: Igor Zwada had 1 goal and Timmy Riordan had 1 assist but the Hawks couldn't rally back from a 2-1 deficit at the half in Upstate Eight Valley play. Jake Hasenstein had 8 saves for Bartlett (3-8, 2-2) in goal.

Grayslake North 2, Hampshire 1: All the scoring came in the second half as Tyler Koppie managed to score off an assist from Jose Hernandez but the Whip-Purs (3-10-1, 1-1) watched the Knights score twice in an FVC Fox loss. Goalkeeper Andy Pederson made 11 saves for Hampshire.
