Oakton, TMA ink new credit partnership

Some students at the Technology & Manufacturing Association of Illinois will be able to get credit toward a degree at Oakton Community College, under a new partnership announced Wednesday.

The "Make It In Manufacturing" joint credential program allows TMA math students in the first year of the association's apprentice training program to receive credit for Oakton's applied mathematics course.

"Creating an Oakton pathway that leads to a transferable credential for TMA-trained students allows us to effectively prepare the next generation of manufacturing professionals while ensuring they receive a well-rounded education," Oakton President Margaret Lee said in a news release.

Park Ridge-based TMA represents more than 30,000 employees of precision manufacturing and supplier companies throughout Illinois.
