Castillo single lifts Cubs past Cards in 10

Welington Castillo drove in Anthony Rizzo with a single to deep right-center in the bottom of the 10th inning Tuesday night, lifting the Cubs to a 4-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals at Wrigley Field.

Anthony Rizzo doubled to the wall in right-center with one out in the 10th. He moved to third on a groundout by Jorge Soler. The Cardinals then walked Luis Valbuena intentionally.

The Cubs took a 2-0 led against Cardinals starting pitcher Shelby Miller in the second inning. Valbuena led off with a walk. Welington Castillo followed with his 13th home run of the season, a drive to left.

Matt Szczur's homer leading off the fifth put the Cubs ahead 3-0.

Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks was strong through 5 innings, but he ran into trouble in the sixth, when the Cardinals tied the game. The big hit was a game-tying 2-run homer by Matt Holliday. That chased Hendricks in favor of Justin Grimm.
