Man jailed over Terre Haute park explosives
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Police have arrested a man in connection with two homemade explosives that were found last week in a Terre Haute city park.
Police say officers arrested 28-year-old Anthony Tillotson on Monday for a preliminary felony charge of manufacturing a destructive device. Assistant police chief Shawn Keen says investigators believe the two devices found near the Collett Park entrance were made several weeks ago and discarded in the park the night before they were spotted Sept. 16.
A bomb squad safely disabled the explosives.
Keen says materials that could've been used to make the explosives were found in Tillotson's home, which is across the street from the park's entrance. Keen declined to say whether Tillotson intended to hurt anyone.
Tillotson was jailed and it wasn't clear whether he had an attorney.
