Woodland Educational Foundation raises $15,000 in golf outing

A private foundation recently raised about $15,000 to benefit Gurnee-based Woodland Elementary District 50.

It was done through the Woodland Educational Foundation's eighth annual golf outing. About 80 participants were part of the event at Geneva National Golf Club in Wisconsin.

The $15,000 will be used to fund grant requests from District 50 employees starting this year.

"I'd like to acknowledge and thank everyone who participated in this event that generated funds for our students and staff," foundation President Patricia Termini said.

"We are so deeply grateful to our supporters who donate their time, resources and dollars to this annual gathering."

Woodland Educational Foundation was established in 2006. A team of District 50 employees and community members collaborated to establish a foundation that would generate and distribute resources with which to enrich and enhance the opportunities of educational experiences of the school system's pupils.

The foundation's intent is to create a mechanism to receive and disperse funds, properties and gifts of any kind to benefit the students and staff for innovative projects, student scholarships, support for supplemental projects and technology.
