Streamwood drops Lake Zurich in PKs

Streamwood's boys soccer team counted on keeper Sergio Blanco and Blanco came through Saturday.

The Sabres (7-3-1) notched a PepsiCo Showdown win, 2-1 over Lake Zurich in PKs as Blanco stopped 3 of the Bears' 4 PK shots.

Alan Camarena scored on an assist from Marcos Rojo to tie the match at 1-1 while Donnie Sosa, Mike Delaney and Edwin Rueda each hit their PKs.

Huntley 0, Maine West 0: The Red Raiders (2-7-4) couldn't find the back of the net but neither could Maine West as goaltending at its finest was on display in this PepsiCo Showdown match. Andrew Fulcer (2 saves) split time with and Michael Parks (3 saves) for the Red Raiders.

Jacobs splits at Hononegah Invite: The Golden Eagles (3-10-1) earned a 2-0 win over rival Dundee-Crown and a 1-1 tie against Unity Township. Jacobs scored twice in the second half to hand D-C its second loss of the tournament with Colin Walsh and Julian Sandoval doing the damage. Noah Melick had an assist and Ethan Pickering and Eduardo Guimaray split time in goal as both finished with 3 saves. Against Unity, Walsh would once again come through in a big way. Trailing 1-0 after the first half, Walsh drilled a pass from Sandoval into the back of the net to tie the game.

Crystal Lake South splits at Hononegah: The Gators (8-4-1) dropped their first game at the Hononegah Invite to Hersey 2-1, but rebounded to beat host Hononegah 2-0 in their final match. The Gators took an early first half lead over Hersey thanks to an Orlando Tapia free kick but saw it evaporate as the Huskies scored twice in the second half. Dalton Kause was in goal and finished with 3 saves. Against the Indians, CLS used a pair of goals from Stefan Harris to net a 2-0. Harris led a strong Gator attack that finished with 10 shots on goal while Kause was a wall in goal, stopping the only shot that came his way. Nathan Columbia had 1 assist as well.

Burlington Central gets swept at Prairie Ridge Invite: The Rockets (7-4-2) dropped all 3 games at Prairie Ridge Invite, including two on Saturday, losing to host Prairie Ridge 4-1 and 3-0 against Lake Park. The Rockets trailed 1-0 after the first half against PR and only put across a goal by Chris Lebrecht, assisted by A.J. Gouriotis. Keepers David Murphy (5 saves) and Ryan Parsons (4 saves) split time in goal. Against Lake Park, the Rockets' offense was unable to counter an early 1-0 deficit. David Murphy played the whole match in goal and finished with 8 saves.

Dundee-Crown drops 2: The Chargers (9-4-1) turned in consecutive losses in the Hononegah Invite, losing to rival Jacobs 2-0 and 1-0 to Springfield. Jose Gonzalez combined for 14 saves on the day.

Wheaton-Warrenville South 2, Larkin 1: It's been the story for most of the year with the Royals (2-7-2) as they came close but just short of taking home a victory in this PepsiCo Showdown matchup. Down 1-0 at the half, Hector Mendoza scored on a pass from Ricardo Nava but the tie would not hold. Leo Perez finished with 6 save in net.
