Farm heritage festival this weekend

The Lake County Forest Preserve District will host its 22nd annual farm heritage festival celebrating farm life from the turn of the century to the present, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Lakewood Forest Preserve near Wauconda.

Visitors can check out hundreds of antique tractors, cars and steam engines, and other farm machinery during the event, presented by the Lake County Discovery Museum and the Lake County Farm Heritage Association, and sponsored by the Daily Herald.

A daily tractor parade will be featured starting at 1:30 p.m., and a petting zoo from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other activities will include sheep herding demonstrations, scarecrow making, museum exhibits, wagon and barrel train rides and other activities for kids and families.

Daily admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for seniors (ages 55 and up) and youth (ages 4 to 17). A two-day weekend pass is also available for $15 for adults and $7 for youth and seniors. Children three and under are free. Admission includes all activities, rides, museum admission and parking. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
