Trustmark Companies director to retire

Employee benefits solution company Lake Foresst-based Trustmark Mutual Holding announced long-term director John Scott will retire following the June 2015 quarterly board meeting.

Scott, a member of Trustmark's board since 2001, is retired president, CEO and chairman of Zurich Kemper Life Insurance Companies.

Trustmark is currently conducting a search for a new director to stand for election at the company's Annual Policyholder Meeting in June.

"John has been a very valuable member of our board, and I have enjoyed working with him over the past 14 years, both as a Trustmark executive and a fellow director," said Trustmark Chairman J. Grover Thomas Jr. "He brought extensive knowledge of all aspects of the insurance industry to the board and was always a voice of reason, providing great insights and steady guidance as Trustmark shifted its focus beyond traditional health insurance products."

During his tenure, Scott served on all of Trustmark's board committees - Audit, Compensation, Investment and Governance - and chaired the Governance Committee for a number of years. In addition, he has served as a director of numerous industry, educational and community organizations, including Kemper Corporation, LOMA, the National Organization of Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Associations, the Illinois Life Insurance Council, the American Council of Life Insurers, the United Way of Lake County, OMNI Youth Services, and the University of the South, his alma mater.

"To see and be a part of the tremendous change that's taken place at Trustmark over the past 14 years has been a remarkable experience," said Scott. "I will miss Trustmark and all the terrific people I've worked with over the years."
