Three Woodland school board seats up for election next year

Three seats on the seven-member Woodland Elementary District 50 board of education will be filled in the April 7 election. Candidates elected to the seats in the Gurnee-based district will serve four-year terms expiring in April 2019.

Nominating petition forms are now available. They may be picked up in the board secretary's office at 1105 N. Hunt Club Road, Gurnee, on any business day from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

To be eligible to serve, a candidate must be, on the date of election, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years old, a resident of the state and the school district for at least one year immediately preceding the election, a registered voter, be neither a school trustee nor a school treasurer, and not be a child sex offender.

A board candidate's petition must be filed in the office of the Lake County Clerk, 18 N. County St., Waukegan, no earlier than 8:30 a.m., Monday, Dec. 15, and no later than 5 p.m., Monday, Dec. 22.
