Hare guides NIU to 48-34 win in Vegas

LAS VEGAS — Drew Hare threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth to lead Northern Illinois to a 48-34 win over UNLV Saturday night.

Cameron Stingily ran for the first of his two touchdowns midway through the first quarter to give the Huskies the lead, 7-3.

After Northern Illinois was flagged for a personal foul that resulted in a safety late in the first quarter, Hare threw a pair of second-quarter touchdown passes and ran in from the 12 early in the third quarter to give the Huskies a 28-5 lead.

The Runnin' Rebels stormed back behind a pair of Blake Decker touchdown passes and a pair of scoring runs by Shaquille Murray-Lawrence to tie the game at 34 with 9:18 left.

Hare threw 54 yards to Da'Ron Brown to give Northern Illinois the lead for good, and Stingily added a final score with 1:56 left.
