Lakes nets title in own tourney
McKenna Lahr and Megan Behrendt led the way at the net, as Lakes' girls volleyball team won its own invitational Saturday.
Lahr slammed 43 kills, while Behrendt racked up 32 kills, 35 digs, 8 aces and 5 blocks.
The Eagles went 5-0 on the day, defeating Ridgewood (25-21, 25-8), Antioch (25-23, 25-9), Grayslake Central (25-21, 25-20), Deerfield (25-15, 25-10) and Grayslake North (25-16, 25-20).
Lakes setter Maddie Demo dished 98 assists, while adding 5 aces and 11 kills. The Eagles' other contributors included Izzy Huntington (12 kills, 22 digs, 5 blocks), Katie Billetdeaux (15 kills, 15 blocks), Kaylee Romeo (11 blocks), Lisa Buehler (23 digs), Morgan Phillips (24 digs) and Kelly Clendening (15 digs). Lahr also had 7 aces, 34 digs, and 6 blocks.
Lakes coach Kate Cheek said her girls are "working well together and continuing to show their commitment to the team and to working on their team chemistry. They are always working to get better and to push their skills to the limits."
