Aurora house fire does $30,000 damage

A fire Friday at a single-family home in Aurora did an estimated $30,000 damage, the Aurora Fire Department said in a news release. There were no reported injuries to firefighters or occupants.

Firefighters responding to a report of a structure fire in the 700 block of South River Street at 3:30 a.m. found a heavy volume of smoke in the home with fire on the first floor. The home suffered significant smoke damage. Five fire companies fought the fire.

Victims received assistance finding alternate housing from the city's Victim Services unit. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
