No arrest in Hanover Park murder, police say

Hanover Park police said Saturday no charges have been filed in a homicide investigation, denouncing a social media posting by authorities in southeast Missouri as misleading and inaccurate.

"It's not true to say anyone has been arrested and charged," Deputy Chief Andy Johnson said, adding that the investigation of the murder of Schaumburg resident Lee Shaw on the 6600 block of Scott Lane Sept. 6 is ongoing and incomplete. "No one has been arrested. No one has been charged. We don't have an active arrest warrant."

Johnson said he wasn't at liberty to comment on details of the ongoing investigation.

In a Thursday post to its Facebook page, the New Madrid County sheriff's police announced the arrest of Kevin Malone, who they said was sought by Hanover Park authorities.

In New Madrid County, Malone and Ana Garcia were charged with possession of a controlled substance after authorities there said they found a small bag with a white substance that "field tested positive for the presence of cocaine." Garcia also was wanted on a Cook County warrant alleging failure to register a change of address, according to the post.

Both Malone and Garcia are due in New Madrid County court on the drug charge Monday.
