Defamation lawsuit is frivolous
Ray Rose, the Undersheriff of Lake County, filed a $100,000 lawsuit against a former deputy for Facebook posts that questioned his mental health and off-duty behavior. This is another example of the Sheriff Curran administration's vindictive policy of a "scorched earth leaves no witnesses."
The former deputy was a decorated police officer who was caught in a political quagmire that prematurely forced his retirement.
Rose didn't sue Curran when he openly called Rose a liar for statements which were made to the media and published. I certainly didn't sue Curran when he called me "socially awkward, delusional and vindictive."
The sheriff's office has been conspicuously devoid of leadership for over a year and limped along for the previous six and a half years.
Voters need to wake up and take an interest in the next person who will run the largest law enforcement agency in the county and third-largest office in the state. I understand the fundamental nature of the relationship between the community and the police: if you don't need us and we aren't issuing you a ticket, we are nothing more than a footnote, if that, in your otherwise busy lives.
Rose's lawsuit is frivolous and is a glowing example of the lengths the Curran administration will go to discredit anyone who dares question their definition of moral authority.
