Wisconsin farmer accused of killing puppies

WAUSAU, Wis. - A 68-year-old Dorchester farmer faces felony animal mistreatment charges for allegedly killing eight puppies with a sledgehammer.

Terrence Seubert was charged in Marathon County with eight felony counts of mistreatment of animals causing death.

According to the complaint, Seubert told investigators the price to sterilize the dogs' mother was "too high" and he did not want any more puppies running around on the farm.

The complaint says the puppies were killed Aug. 9. The man who reported the incident told investigators that homes had been located for some of the puppies and Seubert knew that.

WAOW-TV reports Seubert is due in court Sept. 22 for a preliminary hearing. Online court records do not list a defense attorney.
