Man charged with attempted murder in Aurora shooting

An Aurora man is charged with attempted murder for last month's attack in which another man was shot several times in his home.

Jermaine L. Baker, 36, of the 1200 block of Cottonwood Drive, Aurora, was arrested at his home Monday night, police said in a news release Thursday.

Baker is accused of entering the home of the 45-year-old victim on the 1600 block of Shamrock Court at about 5:20 a.m. and shooting him several times while he was in bed.

Despite being shot, including once in the face, the man called authorities, police said. He was airlifted to a suburban hospital and is expected to service, police said.

"Baker surfaced as a suspect early in the investigation," part of the release said. "The shooting apparently stemmed from a personal issue between the two."

Dan Ferrelli, spokesman for the police department, would not elaborate on the dispute between the two men.

Baker is being held on $750,000 bail, meaning he must post $75,000 to be released while the case is pending.

He is next due in court on Sept. 24.

Baker's defense attorney Marc Wolfe could not immediately be reached for comment.
