Autopsy scheduled for woman who died in Third Lake crash

An autopsy is scheduled Thursday for a woman who died in a traffic crash in Third Lake.

Lake County sheriff's police say they are investigating the fatal wreck that occurred about 6 a.m. on Route 45 at Washington Street.

Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the busy intersection on a report that a red 2009 Hyundai Elantra was heading north on Route 45 at Washington Street when the vehicle left the roadway and drove onto grass. Police said the car struck a traffic pole and rolled onto its roof.

Police said the woman was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where she was pronounced dead. The sheriff's office's technical crash investigations unit is handling the case.

Lake County Coroner Thomas Rudd said an autopsy on the woman is set for Thursday. Rudd said her identity was not immediately known.
