Man tells police he killed man trying to rob him

INDIANAPOLIS - Police in Indianapolis say a man told investigators he fatally shot a man who was trying to rob him in a bank parking lot.

The shooting happened about 6:15 a.m. Monday just west of the city's downtown, across the street from a police district headquarters.

Police Sgt. Kendale Adams says the man who fired the shots was taken into custody and was cooperating with investigators.

A still-running pickup truck ended up on the sidewalk of a shopping plaza across a parking lot from the bank branch. Investigators said a bullet hole was found in the truck's windshield.
