Campers learn about science at Rosalind Franklin University

Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, 3333 Green Bay Road, North Chicago, recently hosted a field trip for Body Trek, a two-week summer science camp for students in grades six through eight.

Led by G. David Bedney, MD, MPH, a graduate of the Chicago Medical School, students enjoyed lunch, a tour, and a presentation by Hope Bilyk, MS, RD, LDN, assistant professor in the department of nutrition, and an exercise in the gross anatomy lab.

Dr. Bedney is a health educator at the Robert Crown Center for Health Education in Hinsdale.

The camp leads students through an exploration of various medical and health care topics, including hematology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, physical therapy and emergency medicine.

Campers observe a surgery, dissect animal organs and learn from other hands-on experiences through field trips to hospitals and museums.
