Naperville and the Naperville-Lisle Townships Triad will present "Healthy, Wealthy and Wise," a conference for area senior citizens from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 12, at city hall, 400 S. Eagle St.

The conference is a free opportunity for seniors living independently to learn more about services available to them from experts in various fields.

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan will present the conference's keynote address at 9:15 a.m., followed by Attorney Linda Strohschein presenting information on estate planning and powers of attorney at 10:15 a.m. Loretto Cowhig from the Northeastern Illinois Agency on Aging will conclude the day with a presentation about Medicare at 11:30 a.m.

"As Naperville's senior population continues to grow and the 'Baby Boomer' generation ages, the city wants to connect seniors with resources in the areas of health, law and independent living," crime prevention specialist Julie Smith said. "This is an excellent opportunity for our seniors to hear directly from experts on matters that impact their lives and explore resources that can help them lead active, healthy, safe and independent lives."

In addition to the three speakers, more than 35 area organizations representing health care, safety and legal services will showcase their products and offerings to attendees in the lower level meeting rooms. Prizes will be raffled.

Walk-in registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the conference. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early; tickets to the speakers will be given out until capacity in the council chambers is reached.

"Part of the mission of Triad is to promote crime prevention for seniors in addition to encouraging involvement in community programs and educational seminars," Naperville-Lisle Triad Chairman Brian Foster said. "This conference will empower our seniors in the areas of health, the law and safety so that they can enhance their quality of life to the maximum extent possible."
