Annual Ryan's Run to take place in Vernon Hills
Northwestern Medicine Lake Forest Hospital will partner with The Ryan Briere Foundation for the fourth annual Ryan's Run, hospital officials announced.
Proceeds from Ryan's Run will support children's activities and programming for pediatric patients in the new Lake Forest Hospital.
"We are honored that The Ryan Briere Foundation is continuing its support of Lake Forest Hospital and our pediatric patients," said Peter Bower, director of philanthropy at Lake Forest Hospital.
"Funds raised through Ryan's Run will help make children's hospital stays a little easier through activities and programs designed to match each patient's age and interests."
Ryan's Run will be from 8-11:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Century Park, 1001 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. Registration begins at 8 a.m., the 5K run/walk begins at 9 a.m. and the one-mile family walk begins at 10 a.m.
The race will begin at Century Park's sled hill on the north side of the park next to the Century Park Pavilion, where registration and family activities will take place.
Ryan's Run is a family-friendly event with a magic show, inflatable bounce house, a balloon artist, face painting and more. While runners enjoy a scenic 5K run or walk around Big and Little Bear lakes, families will be able to participate in the various activities.
"We sincerely thank all of the Ryan's Run participants over the years and our foundation's supporters as we work together to benefit the children of our community," said Lori Briere, who established the foundation after Ryan died just three weeks shy of his third birthday.
"We are excited to partner with Lake Forest Hospital to help create for their young patients enjoyment, inspiration and healing in the name of our son, Ryan."
