Fire officials: Man pulled from Lake Michigan

Evanston fire authorities say an elderly man has been pulled from Lake Michigan in critical condition.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports Evanston Fire Chief Greg Klaiber says the man was rescued from the lake in Evanston on Sunday. The man had been swimming with his wife. Klaiber says she realized he was still face-down in the water when she got to shore.

He says a bystander performed CPR before emergency crews arrived. The man had a pulse when he was taken to a local hospital. Officials said he was in "extremely critical condition" Sunday.

Police haven't identified the man or released his age.
