More charges possible in Round Lake Park crash

Round Lake Park police say a 38-year-old man charged with drunken driving after his vehicle struck a pedestrian Friday night could face additional felony charges.

Domingo Rios, of the 500 block of Arbor Drive in Round Lake Park, was arrested after the crash, which occurred about 8:45 p.m. Friday along Washington Street. Witnesses told police Rios' vehicle veered off the road and struck an 18-year-old woman from behind, sending her flying into the air.

The woman, according to police, was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for treatment and released Saturday.

Police Chief George Filenko said Sunday investigators will be re-interviewing witnesses and consulting with the Lake County state's attorney's office Monday regarding other possible charges.

"If there are going to be charges, we certainly aren't going to be reluctant to pursue them," he said.

For now, Rios is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

He was released on a $3,000 recognizance bond and is due back in court Sept. 19.
