Family-to-Family mental health course in Elk Grove this fall

A free education course, offering support for family members, partners, and caregivers of people with mental illness is coming in September.

Family-to-Family is a 12 week course, taught by trained family members that have loved ones living with mental illness, and includes current research on all major brain disorders: Schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and borderline personality disorder).

A NAMI signature education course, F2F is now registering people interested in learning more about mental illness. The NAMI F2F education program is taught in 49 states and has touched the lives of over 200,000 participants.

Information on effective treatments to promote recovery, coping skills, problem-solving and self-care, are the focus of this Family-to-Family Education Program developed by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Series starts Tuesday, Sept. 16th, and will meet on Tuesday evenings in Elk Grove.

Preregistration is required; call Marianne at (847) 885-2279 or Jenny at (630) 289-0383. A current study noted, NAMI's F2F program offers "concrete, practical benefits" and demonstrates the value of free community-based self-help programs as "a complement" to professional mental health services. It is an evidence-based practice.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this free education course, please be sure to call and ask Marianne or Jenny for details.
