5 things to do in the suburbs this weekend

If the crowds at the Chicago Air & Water Show aren't for you, plenty of other options are worth checking out this weekend. A unique fest in St. Charles will appeal to those who love horses and there are plenty of chances to enjoy the music you love.

Equestrian fest: Check out the Festival of the Horse & Drum, a multicultural, multimedia festival geared to horse lovers at the Kane County Fairgrounds, 525 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. The fest features demonstrations, a pow wow and more. $15 adults; $7.50 for children ages 6 to 15; free for ages 5 and younger. Come together: Beatles fans will converge on the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, 9300 W. Bryn Mawr Ave., Rosemont, for the 38th Annual Fest for Beatles Fans. The weekend offers the chance to buy memorabilia plus performances by artists of the same era including Mickey Dolenz of The Monkees and Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits. $69 per day. Hit summer series: The popular summer concert series Descarga con Telemundo y mun2 makes its first local stop Saturday at RiverEdge Park, 360 N. Broadway, Aurora. The free, family-friendly show features well-known and up-and-coming Latin music stars, as well as special appearances by Telemundo y mun2 TV stars. Among the performers are 3BallMTY, El Conjunto Nueva Ola and Graciela Beltran. Free. Gates open at 5 and show starts at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

Stewart and Santana: Rod Stewart performs in concert with Santana at the Allstate Arena, 6920 N. Mannheim Road, Rosemont. $39.50-$250; parking extra. (800) 745-3000 or allstatearena.com. 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
