Carpentersville police investigating armed robbery at cellphone store

Police continue to investigate a Tuesday afternoon armed robbery at a Carpentersville Verizon Wireless Zone on Binnie Road, authorities said.

Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Erman Blevins said two males with dark complexions in their mid-20s entered the store at the corner of Binnie and Randall roads at 2:35 p.m. and displayed a handgun to a store employee.

The employee handed over an unknown amount of money to the men, Blevins said, and the men fled in a silver or gray colored vehicle, possibly a Pontiac, in an unknown direction.

No shots were fired during the robbery, Blevins said, and no one was injured.

He said the robbery remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Carpentersville police at (847) 551-3481.
