Two hurt in boating accident on Diamond Lake in Mundelein

A pontoon boat was struck by another boat on Diamond Lake Saturday night in Mundelein, injuring two people, fire officials said.

Paramedics were called about 7:05 p.m. to the lake between Route 60/83 and Route 45. Two passengers on the pontoon boat - a man and a woman - were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with minor injuries, said Ed Heinz, a battalion chief for the Countryside Fire Protection District.

The impact of the collision apparently caused the canopy on the pontoon boat to topple down, Heinz said.

Paramedics evaluated another passenger who was released at the scene, Heinz said.

The Lake County sheriff's office is investigating.
