Dinner/roast fundraiser to honor Herb Franks Aug. 8

MARENGO, Ill. - In celebration of his groundbreaking, five-decade legal career, Franks, Gerkin and McKenna P.C., McHenry County's pre-eminent law firm, is hosting a celebrity studded, charity roast to honor the company's founding partner, Herb Franks.

"My career as an attorney has been truly incredible thus far," Franks said. "To spend fifty years working to help people in need has been an honor and a blessing."

The Roast of Herbert Hoover Franks will be held Friday, Aug. 8, at Donley's Village Hall Banquets, located at 8512 S. Union Road. in Union.

Celebrity roasters will include Illinois Supreme Court Justices Anne Burke and Thomas Kilbride, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, lieutenant governor Sheila Simon, Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart, Alderman Edward Burke, ComEd CEO Anne Pramaggiore, Judges Michael Caldwell, Richard Goldenhersh and Mary Schostock; former ISBA presidents Tim Eaton and Paula Holderman, attorney Peggy Gerkin and local radio and television personality Mancow.

All of the event's proceeds will benefit Prairie State Legal Services, a nonprofit agency that provides legal services to the underserved. The law firm of Franks, Gerkin & McKenna will underwrite 100 percent of the costs of the fundraiser.

"I am truly grateful that so many of my friends are joining us for what will be a wonderful evening," Franks continued. "That so many people are coming together to raise funds for an organization that is critically important to McHenry County is more than I ever could have hoped for."
