Calvary Church sends 1,000 volunteers to serve community

Roughly 1,000 volunteers from Calvary Church in Naperville will go into 16 sites around the community to perform cleanup projects Aug. 2 and 3.

Aurora sites where the volunteers will serve include: Gates Elementary, Oak Park Elementary, Bardwell Elementary, Beaupre Elementary, Hermes Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Krug Elementary, Mutual Ground, Aurora Animal Control, Wayside Cross Urban Youth Ministry and Gigi's Playhouse.

Additional sites around the community include Ready, Set, Ride Therapeutic Recreation Facility in Plainfield; Community Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Naperville; Sweet Charity Resale in Montgomery; and Morning Star Mission in Joliet.

Tasks at each job site may include painting, landscaping and cleaning. These projects will be done from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

As an extension of this effort, Calvary Church members are donating backpacks filled with supplies for students in need. These backpacks will go to the following schools: Fischer Middle School, Georgetown Elementary, Gombert Elementary, Still Middle School and Waubonsie Valley High School.

The project is part "All Things New," a churchwide initiative to lead others to the good news of the God who makes all things new.
