Woman killed in Wisconsin lawn mower accident

Associated Press

JANESVILLE, Wis. - Authorities say a 65-year-old southern Wisconsin woman has died after a riding lawn mower accident.

Rock County Sheriff Robert Spoden says deputies were called to a home Saturday afternoon in the town of Janesville, where they found a woman partially trapped under a small riding lawn mower that was tipped upside down.

Spoden says in a statement that the woman was not breathing and did not have a pulse. She was taken to Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, where she was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the accident.

The statement from the sheriff says an initial investigation shows the woman was mowing near a small culvert and drove too close to the incline, tipping the mower over. It says authorities suspect the woman was pinned beneath the mower for 15 to 20 minutes before a witness was able to partially free her.

The woman was not immediately identified.
