Buddy Foundation offers special adoption fees

Experience the joy and unconditional love that a pet brings to your life by adopting a dog or cat from The Buddy Foundation.

The shelter has an ever-changing selection of dogs and cats - all ages, breeds and temperaments. All animals have been checked, medically treated, spayed/neutered and are ready for their own loving home.

The nonprofit (501c3), all-volunteer, no-kill animal shelter is hosting a Bow Wow & Meow adoption event during shelter hours through Friday Aug. 1, at 65 W. Seegers Road, in Arlington Heights.

Only during this special adoption event will you find adoption fees at $77 each for cats and dogs that are 7 years of age and older. In addition, those interested in kittens may adopt two for $150.

The perfect pet is waiting just for you.

Volunteer with Buddy: Want to make a real difference in the life of a shelter animal? The Buddy Foundation needs you.

The Buddy Foundation is unique in the fact that is it all volunteers, not a single person is paid. All the time, energy, and funds go directly to the care of the animals.

Buddy is always in need of that special volunteer who loves animals and is willing to do almost any task, no matter how large or small. If you are 18 or older and can give time on a regular basis, Buddy wants you.

Some of the volunteer jobs include walking dogs, cleaning their cages, feeding etc. For cats, volunteers also clean cages, litter boxes, floors etc.

If you want to be a general volunteer and have no specific interest, Buddy can also use your help around the shelter. Chores could include doing laundry, folding it, putting it in proper locations, mopping floors, cleaning windows, etc. There are all sorts of things to do.

Buddy has a meeting room that has a microwave and refrigerator, all of which need cleaning from time to time.

Other duties include manning a booth at an event, collating the newsletter and getting it ready for posting, sewing or making dog and cat beds, doing yard work, and watering the gardens.

Stop by the shelter, 65 W. Seegers Road, Arlington Heights, and pick up a volunteer form, fill it out and return it to Buddy. Carmella is the volunteer coordinator and will give you a call and set up an interview. Indicate whether you want to help with cats/dogs, or any other specific task.
