School districts 70, 68 expand sharing program

Libertyville Elementary District 70 and neighboring Oak Grove District 68 are expanding a shared management services agreement to include an art teacher.

Kurt Valentin of District 70 has managed the finances for the smaller District 68 the past three years. That allowed District 70 to hire a supervisor of building and grounds and move an employee to District 68 as business manager. This coming school year the districts will share an art teacher to work at Adler Park and Butterfield schools.

In related news involving shared services, District 70 and Gavin District 37 also plan to share a teacher for hearing-impaired students. The cooperative agreements allow the respective districts to share expertise and save money, according to District 70 Superintendent Guy Schumacher.
