Off-duty police officer killed in crash

The Illinois State Police says an off-duty Chicago police officer has been killed in a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway on the city's South Side.

State Police spokeswoman Monique Bond says that the investigation into Sunday afternoon's crash is ongoing but it appears the officer was riding his motorcycle when he was struck by another vehicle at about 2:15 p.m. She says he was pronounced dead at the scene.
