Community festival returns to Round Lake Park

The community summer festival is making a comeback in Round Lake Park.

After an absence of several years, village officials have planned a lakefront summer festival from 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 19, at the village hall, 203 E. Lake Shore Drive.

"I'm bringing back the tradition," Mayor Linda Lucassen said. "We have not done a festival in probably close to 10 years. We wanted to bring something back. We started planning it back in January."

Lucassen said she used to be involved in the local festival but it petered out after being moved to the downtown area along Route 134.

"We used to have such a good time. It always was such a well-respected event," she said.

The lineup features the Joe Powers Country Band and Peter and the Versatiles as the musical entertainment, along with a DJ. Craft and food vendors will be on hand.

"We have three parking lots, the lakefront and we're going to block off the street in front of village hall," Lucassen said.

Other attractions include a raffle, games, boat rides, bike safety rodeo, police K9 demonstration, a fire engine, moon walk and American Legion bingo.

Admission is free.
