Regional planning group dissolved:
The Lake County Regional Planning Commission, formed in 1957, will be dissolved after a directive Tuesday from the Lake County Board. The advisory group completed the county's first comprehensive land use and transportation surveys, and was instrumental in creating the first comprehensive plan. But in an era of shared services and streamlining, its functions will be assigned to the Zoning Board of Appeals as a more efficient alternative to the current duplicative development and text amendment review process, according to county officials.
