Arlington Hts. student to compete in Illinois pageant

Giada Welter, 6, daughter of Jennifer and Chris Welter, was chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Illinois Pageant to be held Aug. 1 and 2, at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.

The National American Miss pageants are held for girls ages 4-18, and have five age divisions. Giada will be participating in the 4-6 age division, along with other outstanding young ladies from across the state of Illinois.

Giada's activities include gymnastics, swimming, singing and cheerleading. She also enjoys riding her bike, drawing, playing with her cousins, and going on vacation.

Giada's sponsor's are DGAA Law Firm in Palatine, Fitness 19 in Arlington Heights, Cinde's Salon in Roselle, Favia Family Dental in Arlington Heights and Advanced Health Institute in Arlington Heights.

The winner of the Pageant will receive $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the National Pageant in California, where she will receive a complimentary Tour of Hollywood and two V.I.P tickets to Disneyland.

The National American Miss Pageants are dedicated to celebrating America's future leaders and equipping them with lifelong skills. Each year the pageant nationally awards $1.5 million in cash, scholarships and other prizes, which includes a New Ford Mustang Convertible.

The National American Miss Pageants are unlike any other. All activities and competitions are kept age appropriate. Girls younger than age 12 are not allowed to wear make-up, and there is no swimsuit competition. The pageant program is based on inner-beauty, as well as poise and presentation. Emphasis is put on the importance of developing self confidence, learning sportsmanship, as well as settling and achieving personal goals.
